Sign away with me...

Ever since 7th grade I had been taking Japanese as my required school language. However, it was extremely difficult for me and that led me to the decision to quit taking Japanese my senior year and go with a language that I actually enjoyed, which is sign language. I was first introduced to sign language when my friend and I decided to make a sign language music video and we self-taught ourselves via youtube videos (I'll post the video down below). Even though I had never taken a sign language class before making the video (neither had my friend), it didn't take me very long to learn how to sign the song we chose for our music video. So, after that video, I decided I wanted to drop Japanese and take sign language as my language of choice. My school doesn't offer it so during the summer and whenever I get free time during my senior year I'm going to be enrolled in some online sign language courses. Ideally, I would like to, someday, become a deaf elementary school teacher/regular elementary school teacher. So, I want to do everything I can to prepare myself for my future since I would like to, of course, continue sign language in college. I am so excited and today I completed my first lesson in the beginning ASL course of the online ASL class I'm enrolled in. I'm super duper happy I could finally discover a language that I actually want to learn and enjoy learning. If any of you reading my blog are fluent in sign language or know anyone that is, post below and let me know how you/they have enjoyed it and how long you/ they have been taking it, etc. I want to know! It's always neat to find other people who enjoy sign language too! I hope you all have an awesome Monday!

Love,
Kellyn xoxo
My friend and I performing Blackbird by The Beatles in sign language (FYI...the video isn't really 8 minutes long, but for some reason when I posted it it made the video continue on for much longer. :( The video stops at 2:12!)
